Tony Kerins

Tony is an illustrator, artist and writer. His approach to this project has been twofold – the first was to visit the woods and describe the visible: the other was to explore the received ideas of woodland that we find in nursery rhyme, advertising, song and story.
Most of us walk into the woods as strangers. It's a place of novelty and mystery and sometimes of unease. Other strangers might be there, of doubtful intent. And you can't see far because there's always something in the way.
But sometimes it's a place of refuge, where we are the hidden ones, not intruders. Where time slows and all around are vivid patterns of growth and decay. Where we allow the woods to cast their spell, as they have for millennia.
